US President Donald Trump said Iran wants to ‘settle’ and Washington has given Tehran a ‘weeks off’ for its former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei’s funeral.
Iran has officially started the public funeral of its former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, as per local media reports.
Tehran is expecting over 20 million people to gather for the same.
Iran has also said that the US has issued directives to all its embassies across the world to pressure countries from attending Khamenei’s funeral, as per reports. The US would consider the same as an “unfriendly act” with “negative consequences for bilateral relations” as per reports.
US ambassadors in Africa have allegedly threatened to halt all development aid to the participating countries, while US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has personally called counterparts in at least five Arab countries, the reports added.
Around 13 countries have declined to attend Khamenei’s funeral.
