Shia LaBeouf‘s recurring dealings with the authorities are slowly becoming his new normal.
The Disney alum was recently seen engaged in an unpleasant encounter with the cops outside his home in New Orleans. This comes after his recent street brawl outside a bar during Mardi Gras celebrations, which later resulted in charges of simple battery.
Shia LaBeouf has been headlining his name in a negative light in the media, from bar fights to homophobic slurs, and drinking issues. The actor seems to be spiraling downhill with several issues riding on his back.
Inside Shia LaBeouf’s Recent Word Exchange With New Orleans Cops

LaBeouf did not hold back as he hurled words at the authorities outside his New Orleans home on Friday morning. The encounter caught on video shows the actor gesticulating while explaining something about a car to the cops. At one point during his unclear speech, he was seen to lift up his shirt and seemingly make the sign of the cross.
He then continues talking to the cops, directing them to look at a security camera on his house before showing them his phone. As he does this, he goes ballistic, saying, “You gotta understand who I am. I’m a target,” adding that he’s an “easy target.”
The video uploaded to TMZ then shows LaBeouf pacing back and forth, appearing agitated, before he starts yelling things about his personal life and previous legal issues. “I have a f-cking three-year-old!” he says before adding that he has been “sitting in jail for f-cking four months for punching a man.” The actor did not stop there; instead, he went on screaming at the officers, telling them several times that he did not trust them.
The ‘Transformers’ Star Was Captured In Tears
The scene with the police officers outside his house ends, and the footage skips to show the Disney alum sitting in the street looking overwhelmed. He then begins to yell again at someone whose face was not shown, most probably an officer.
“What are you talking about?! That’s why I never call you,” he said at the top of his voice before letting out a scream and then breaking down in tears. Moments after the tears began to roll, the cops drove off, and LaBeouf was left alone to dwell in his feelings.
This is not his first encounter with the authorities this year. Last month, the former child star was arrested and charged with battery after throwing fists with multiple people outside a bar in New Orleans. He allegedly yelled out some homophobic words at the people he fought. Two weeks after that incident, he was arrested again and slapped with an additional count of simple battery.
Shia LaBeouf Took His Woes To Rome
A few days ago, it was reported that LaBeouf caused a scene in a public space once again, but this time not on American soil. He made headlines for acting out in the lobby of a hotel in Rome. The Blast covered the story, reporting that the actor came down to the lobby clad in only his briefs. Guests at the hotel were astonished to see him walk in wearing only his black boxers and no shirt.
LaBeouf walked around with an unlit cigarette in his mouth and then began to approach people, requesting for a match so he could smoke. “Come on, bro, give me a f-cking match. You got a match?” he said, expressing frustration as he asked in what sounded like an impatient tone.
The faces of observers in the lobby showed a mix of confusion and curiosity. The footage also signalled mixed reactions from fans as it circulated. His actions raised many questions from fans who wondered the reason behind his recent behavior and what comes next.
Why Did LaBeouf Go To Rome Amid His Ongoing Legal Battles?
The 39-year-old requested permission from a judge to travel out of the country to attend his father’s baptism in Rome. His initial filing stated that his trip was scheduled from March 1 to March 8 and was planned “for religious purposes, including attending his father’s baptism.” He noted that his trip will not affect his appearance in court on March 19.
His first request was denied by a Louisiana judge, Simone Levine, because the filing reportedly lacked a travel itinerary. In the second filing submitted to the courts on March 4, which was later approved, his legal representative, Sarah Chervinsky, asked that LaBeouf be allowed to leave the U.S. for a week.
As shared by The Blast, she included the details of his travel itinerary, adding that she had details of his lodging at the Italian capital. Cherinsky told Judge Hamilton, who granted the travel request approval, that she was willing to share the details of where the Disney alum would stay with the courts and prosecutors “upon request.”
Is Alcohol The Root Of Shia LaBeouf’s Issues?
Many fans have noticed that LaBeouf has been drinking recently, seeming to go back on his publicly declared sobriety. Judge Levine warned the child star to fix up and take “his alcohol addiction seriously.” A source urged that the “Transformers” star “finds a way to get sober or die,” adding that he is on a slide to a tragic end.
LaBeouf, however, maintains that drinking is not the issue this time and insists that he does not need to go to rehab. He has been to rehab for his alcohol addiction several times in the past. The 39-year-old attributed his recent behavior to ego and anger issues, adding that he has a “small man complex.”
When asked in an interview about the alleged homophobic slurs he hurled at the men he fought with during the Mardi Gras celebrations, he said that it was simply because he got scared. “I’ll be honest with you, big gay people are scary to me. I’m standing by myself, and three gay dudes are next to me, touching my leg. I get scared. I’m sorry if that’s homophobic. Then I’m that,” LaBeouf explained.
