Cardi B‘s press run for her highly-anticipated sophomore album, Am I The Drama?, has her answering this question in so many ways. During a conversation with Kelly Rowland, the Bronx-bred emcee opened up about internet trolls and how the internet may or may not affect her.
“The internet era is so insane. It’s a lot of pressure,” Cardi admitted. “It’s a lot of, one day they love you, one day they don’t. One day they’re really hard on you, and I have to understand that, nobody could ever finish me. Not the Internet, not a b***h, not a n***a — nobody could f**king finish me.”
She boldly told Rowland, “My work ethic is gonna finish me. If my work ethic is weak, then I finish my own self. I f**k my own self up. If I ain’t working, I f**k my own self up. On this album, it’s like I’m letting you know I don’t give a f**k how humble I am. I don’t give a f**k how sometimes I ignore the bulls**t, b***h I know who the f**k I am and I know you can’t f**k with me— in nothing.”
Later in the snippet, Cardi proudly acknowledged her worth. “Whatever you think you’re smart in, I’m smart in too. I’m very professional, and I’m very street smart. I could survive anything, b***h […] I could survive anywhere. I could eat you up in any type of way.”
The video stemmed from a more in-depth conversation between the women as part of Spotify’s Countdown To series.
Am I The Drama? is Cardi’s first full-length release since her 2018 debut album, Invasion of Privacy.
