Yamaha launches Aerox-E electric scooter at ₹2.81 lakh, its priciest model yet

India Yamaha Motor has launched the Aerox-E, its electric version of the popular Aerox 155 scooter. The company had previewed the model alongside the XSR155 launch last year.

Yamaha priced the Aerox-E at ₹2.81 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, making it the company’s most expensive product on sale in India. It is Yamaha’s second electric two-wheeler in India, after the EC-06.

The scooter is built in India. It comes in one colour, Bluish White Cocktail, and goes on sale at Yamaha Blue Square showrooms in five cities: Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, and Chennai.

Price Tag

At ₹2.81 lakh, the Aerox-E costs more than several rival electric scooters priced under ₹2 lakh. Yamaha said the pricing reflects a performance-first approach rather than a bid for mass-market sales, building on the brand’s Maxi Sports scooter lineage.

Power Play

The Aerox-E runs on a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor. Yamaha’s official specifications list peak power at 9.4 kW (12.6 hp) and torque at 48 Nm. The company claims a certified range of 117 km and a top speed of 95.5 km/h.

The scooter weighs 139 kg, 13 kg more than the petrol Aerox 155. Riders get three modes: Eco, Standard, and Power. A boost mode gives a short burst of extra power for overtaking, and a reverse mode helps with parking.

Battery Swap

The scooter uses two removable batteries, each rated at 1.5 kWh and 30 Ah, for a combined capacity of 3 kWh. Yamaha said the batteries use high-energy-type cells. Each battery takes about 3 hours and 10 minutes to charge on its own; charging both together takes about 6 hours and 20 minutes.

Riders can pull the batteries out using ergonomic grips and charge them at home. The scooter can run on one battery while the other charges. The batteries carry a warranty of 3 years or 30,000 km.

Premium Bet

The Aerox-E carries a Traction Control System, front and rear disc brakes, and single-channel ABS. Suspension is shared with the petrol Aerox: a telescopic fork up front and dual shock absorbers at the rear.

It gets a 5-inch colour TFT display with turn-by-turn navigation, an upgrade over the LCD screen on the petrol Aerox. The scooter connects to Yamaha’s Y-Connect app for trip information, maintenance reminders, and last-parked-location tracking. It also has a smart key and a charging port mounted on the outside of the scooter body.

On design, the Aerox-E keeps the petrol model’s look: twin LED headlights, an LED tail-light with flashers, and the Aerox’s ‘X’ body motif. Yamaha calls the design language its Maxi Sports ‘Heart-Shaking Speedster’ philosophy, and said the ergonomics were adjusted for daily commuting.
