I have a hot take that might blow your mind. American sex education isn’t great.

Put your pitchforks down!!!

I know what you might be thinking. “How could this be? It’s not like 39 states (and the District of Columbia) are required to “emphasize” abstinence over other options!?!?!?”

That’s true, actually! According to Planned Parenthood, only 18 states require sex ed to include information about birth control.

And that’s not the only lackluster thing about American sex education. For so many of us, sex ed class was basically just awkwardly watching your teacher put a condom on a banana, pass around a pad, and tell you not to get STDs, with little information about how actually to achieve that goal beyond abstinence.

With that in mind, we want to know something. Women — what is something you desperately wish you learned in sex ed?

Perhaps you wanted more information on what to expect from your first gynecologist appointment.

And, even though it’s probably not something any of us were thinking about in school, it would be nice to know something about menopause.

Or, maybe, you just wanted more information about sex in general, like what an orgasm is, and that, no, it’s not just men who have them. Shocking, right?
