Protesters will meet in Boston’s Copley Square at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 17, before marching to Boston Common.

“Good Trouble” rallies are coming to Boston and other Massachusetts cities on Thursday, July 17, in protest of the Trump administration, according to the Indivisible Mass Coalition.
“Tens of thousands of people will take to the streets” in Boston, Worcester, Springfield, Hyannis, and nearly 50 Mass. cities in all “to advocate for justice” in response to President Donald Trump’s “destructive budget,” said an IMC press release.
The Good Trouble Lives On organization called all Americans to action, and the rallies will take place throughout the country.
“Whether you’re outraged by attacks on voting rights, the gutting of essential services, disappearances of our neighbors, or the assault on free speech and our right to protest — this movement is for you,” the organization’s website states.
In Boston, protesters will gather in Copley Square at 4:30 p.m. before marching to Liberty Mall on Boston Common, where a rally will begin at 6 p.m, according to the event’s Mobilize page. During the rally, the Community Health Network of North Central Massachusetts will collect donations of socks, individually wrapped snacks, and unused medical supplies for unhoused populations in Eastern Mass.
The rallies nationwide are in memoriam of the late Civil Rights activist and former Georgia Congressman John Lewis, taking place exactly five years after his passing. A Freedom Fighter for 60 years, Lewis coined the phrase “good trouble” and received the Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama in 2015.
The rallies across the state are “a continuation of the movement Lewis helped lead” with a “new front in the struggle for freedom” and a focus on mutual aid, the Mobilize page states.
