US-Iran War LIVE Updates: Iran has rolled back its decision to open the Strait of Hormuz due to the continuation of the US blockade. The next round of US-Iran talks are set to take place on Monday in Pakistan, as per reports.
US President Donald Trump has expressed optimism over a permanent ceasefire deal with Iran soon. However, Iran said Trump has been making misleading claims. Iran’s Speaker of Parliament MB Ghalibaf in a post on X said Trump “made seven claims in one hour, all seven of which were false”.
He said with the continuation of the blockade, the Strait of Hormuz will not remain open. Passage via the Strait would be based on the “designated route” and with “Iranian authorization”, he said. “Whether the Strait is open or closed and the regulations governing it will be determined by the field, not by social media,” Ghalibaf said.
He added that media warfare and engineering public opinion are an important part of war and “the Iranian nation is not affected by these tricks”.
The IRGC Navy Command had earlier said civilian vessels would only pass via Iran’s designated route, military vessels were still banned from passing the Strait and passages were only possible by the IRGC Navy’s permission. This rule of passage is designated line with the agreement on the truce period on the battlefield and after the implementation of the Lebanese ceasefire, it had added.
