US-Iran War Live Updates: Tensions between the United States and Iran have escalated sharply after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said it launched attacks on US bases in Kuwait and Bahrain in response to fresh American strikes on Iran’s southern coast. The US attacks also disrupted power supplies in parts of Chabahar and damaged key port infrastructure, according to Iran’s state broadcaster IRIB.

US President Donald Trump has warned that Washington would strike Iran “20 times harder” for every attack, while the US Central Command said the latest strikes were aimed at further degrading Iran’s freedom of navigation in the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The renewed hostilities come as the ceasefire agreed under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding appears to have collapsed.

The escalation follows a second wave of US attacks after Trump vowed “harder” strikes on Iran. The US says its operations are in response to Iran’s alleged attack on a tanker using the US-approved Omani route in the Strait of Hormuz, an allegation Tehran has neither officially denied nor claimed.

The latest developments also coincide with the funeral of former Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, whose body was taken to Najaf in Iraq before being transported to Mashhad, where he is set to be buried today.
