“To our Xbox Series X|S players…”
- by Ben Kerry
Almost three weeks since Assassin’s Creed Unity got its free current-gen upgrade after more than a decade following its 2014 launch, Ubisoft has issued a patch for the strange lighting bug that cropped up on Xbox Series X|S consoles.
Shortly after the release of this 60FPS patch, folks quickly noticed that the lighting model was completely broken – but only on Xbox Series X and S systems. Ubisoft has today addressed those players, noting that the “VFX lighting issue affecting characters” has now been fixed.
We’re seeing evidence that this has been successful too, although we must mention that we haven’t tested the patch out here at PX HQ just yet.
This is good to see fixed because, well, the upgrade didn’t actually make that much difference for Xbox players. AC Unity was previously a part of Microsoft’s FPS Boost program and already ran at 60FPS on Xbox Series X|S, and with the bug in place, the update made for a worse experience than beforehand. That’s all water under the bridge now though, with Xbox One’s debut Assassin’s Creed now in ship shape on all current-gen platforms.
Are you going to dive back into this one now that it’s been fixed? Talk to us about AC Unity on Xbox down below.
