Srivatsas wartime story, based on his fathers life, will be displayed at the LATFOB from April 18 to 19, 2025, at booth 225.

Four Minutes Past Midnight: A Moment in Eternity by Sanjay R. Srivatsa will be displayed at the 2026 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books (LATFOB), on April 18-19, 2026, at the University of Southern California. The presentation of the historical novel is in cooperation with ReadersMagnet. Fairgoers can check out the book at booth 225.

Srivatsas book is a deeply researched narrative rooted in the real wartime story of his father, K.R. Srivatsa. Due to the classified, politically sensitive nature of his activities, the older Srivatsa requested that his story be published only twenty years after his passing in 1988.

Honoring that wish, the author spent over a decade corroborating his late fathers travelogue and conducting live interviews with those acquainted with him in various parts of Southeast Asia. Original letters, photographs, official records, and his fathers handwritten notes were also included in the book as supporting exhibits.

Four Minutes Past Midnight traces the late Srivatsas ancestral heritage and early life before immersing in the volatile landscape of the Indian independence movement and wartime Southeast Asia, China, and Japan. The author also explores the toll the events took on his father and his peers, weaving in humanity, humor, and intrigue that add depth to the narrative.

Beyond its historical revelations, the novel explores religious traditions, social structures, and cultural identities of Southeast Asia and Japan during a period of upheaval. As a result, the book appears to be part-historical, part-memoir, and part-investigative research, with the authors representation of emotional and behavioral insights, offering a well-rounded perspective on the conflicts of the time.

World War II enthusiasts, history buffs, and readers fascinated by political intrigue will discover both a gripping personal saga and a rare perspective on wartime Asia in Four Minutes Past Midnight. Fairgoers can browse the book at the ReadersMagnet exhibit during the two-day Los Angeles Times Festival of Books.
