A 35-year-old woman fired a flurry of shots from an AR-15 into Rihanna’s Beverly Hills-area home on Sunday, with one round penetrating the wall of the mansion.
Law enforcement has identified 35-year-old Florida resident Ivanna Ortiz, who fired several shots into Rihanna’s Beverly Hills-area mansion with an “AR-15 style weapon” on Sunday. One round penetrated a wall of the residence, according to police. Ortiz is being held on $10.2 million bail, but a motive for the attack has not yet been revealed.
Los Angeles police responded to a report of a shooting at 1:21 PM Sunday in the Beverly Hills Post Office neighborhood. Rihanna was reportedly at home, according to sources close to the matter. Police say the suspect fired multiple rounds from inside her vehicle toward the pop star’s home. No injuries were reported in the incident.
LAPD radio dispatch for the incident said that at least 10 shots had been fired at the home from a vehicle across the street from the property’s gate. The vehicle, a white Tesla, then fled south on Coldwater Canyon Drive. Officers in a helicopter soon caught sight of the vehicle and followed it to a shopping center parking lot in Sherman Oaks. There, after around 30 minutes since the 911 call came in, authorities arrested Ortiz.
Searching her vehicle, police located an assault rifle and seven casings, according to LAPD spokesperson Armen Arias. Bullet holes were identified in a gate at Rihanna’s home and in an RV parked in the driveway.
According to public records, Ortiz had several prior arrests in her home state. These include a bankruptcy case in 2013, an arrest on suspicion of careless driving in 2021, and an arrest on suspicion of domestic violence and battery in 2023. A licensed speech pathologist from Orlando, Ortiz had no known affiliation with either Rihanna or her partner, rapper A$AP Rocky.
Rihanna and Rocky have three young children—son RZA, born in May 2022; son Riot, born in August 2023; and daughter Rocki, born just over five months ago. While police confirmed that Rihanna was home at the time of the incident, it’s not clear whether anyone else, including Rocky or any of the children, was also home.
Back in 2018, a man identified as Eduardo Leon broke into Rihanna’s home and spent about 12 hours inside. He later pleaded no contest to stalking the singer and had reportedly hopped a fence to get onto the property. Rihanna was not home at the time, and Leon was discovered by the star’s assistant the next day.
