Jan. 26 (UPI) — A Michigan man shopping for a scratch-off lottery ticket at a gas station went with a “random pick” and scored a $2 million top prize.

The 53-year-old Wayne County man told Michigan Lottery officials he visited the Jefferson Fuels store on East Jefferson Avenue in Detroit in search of a scratch-off lottery ticket.

“Every once in a while, Ill buy a lottery ticket and the Legendary Wild Time game was just a random pick that day,” the player said.

The $20 ticket earned the man a $2 million prize.

“I scratched the ticket right after I bought it and didn’t believe it was real when I saw I’d won $2 million,” the man said. “It wasn’t until I called the lottery and verified my prize that it started to sink in that this was really happening.”

The winner said his prize money will be used for travel and bolstering his savings.
