Narendra Modi inaugurates first phase of Noida International Airport in Jewar, a multi modal hub in Uttar Pradesh with major passenger and cargo capacity.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday, March 28, inaugurated the first phase of the Noida International Airport in Jewar, marking the launch of a new aviation facility in Uttar Pradesh. He was accompanied by UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and other dignitaries during the event.

Security arrangements were put in place in and around the venue in view of the Prime Minister’s visit.

The first phase of the airport has been developed at an estimated cost of ₹11,200 crore. The project is planned as a multi-modal transport hub, with connectivity through road, rail, metro and regional transport systems.

According to an official statement, the development also includes a multi-modal cargo hub with an initial handling capacity of over 2.5 lakh metric tonnes annually. This is designed to be scalable to around 18 lakh metric tonnes in later stages.

The airport’s initial passenger handling capacity has been set at 12 million passengers per annum (MPPA), with provisions to expand this up to 70 million MPPA.

During his visit, the Prime Minister also inspected the terminal building at the airport site.
