May 27 (UPI) — Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested and faces felony charges of suffocation and strangulation, Brown County (Wis.) records show.

Jacobs was arrested Tuesday night and booked into Brown County Main Jail in Green Bay, Wis. He was held without bond. The Packers running back also faces misdemeanor charges of battery/assault, disorderly conduct, criminal damage to property and intimidation.

Chief Michael Renkas of the Hobart-Lawrence Police Department said in a news release that officers were dispatched Saturday to a disturbance involving Jacobs. The matter remains under investigation.

Jacobs denied the allegations through a statement from his attorneys, David Chesnoff, Clarence Duchac and Richard Schonfeld.

“Josh vehemently denies the allegations, and this matter is in the early stages of investigation with important evidence that has not yet been made public,” the attorneys said.

“We ask for fairness and restraint while the judicial process takes its course.”

The Packers said they are “aware of the matter” and withheld further comment about the “ongoing legal situation.”

Jacobs, 28, has two years remaining on the four-year, $48 million contract he signed with the Packers in 2024. The three-time Pro Bowl selection totaled 1,211 yards from scrimmage and 14 scores over 15 starts last season. He totaled 1,671 yards from scrimmage and a career-high 16 touchdowns in 2024, his first season with the Packers.

Jacobs, who spent his first five seasons with the Las Vegas Raiders, erupted for a career- and league-best 2,053 yards from scrimmage, including 1,653 rushing yards, in 2022 en route to All-Pro honors. He scored 12 times that season for the Raiders.

Chris Brooks, MarShawn Lloyd, Pierre Strong Jr., Damien Martinez and Jaden Nixon are the other running backs on the Packers’ roster.

The Packers will hold their second day of organized team activities Wednesday in Green Bay. They will hold mandatory minicamp from June 9 to 11. Coach Matt LaFleur is expected to meet with reporters before Wednesday’s session.
