The time has come: The red carpet is wrapping up and the Oscars 2026 are upon us, bringing together Hollywood’s biggest names for a ceremony where it feels like anything might be possible.
Stars are out in full force this year, bringing their most stunning and daring looks to the Oscar red carpet. Nicole Kidman, Teyana Taylor, and Demi Moore all elected for gowns embellished with feathers; likely best actress winner Jessie Buckley chose a gown that nods to another best actress, Grace Kelly; Damson Idris wore a shearling collar in the Los Angeles heat. Timothée Chalamet wore all white, while his girlfriend Kylie Jenner elected for Jessica Rabbit red.

What we know so far:
- Ryan Coogler and Paul Thomas Anderson have won their first Oscars. Coogler won best original screenplay for Sinners, Thomas Anderson won best adapted screenplay for One Battle After Another.
- Sean Penn was not present to accept the Oscar for best supporting actor after winning for his performance of Colonel Steven J. Lockjaw in One Battle After Another.
- In an Oscars first, two short films tied for an award. Both “The Singers” and “Two People Exchanging Saliva” got to take home the prize.Cassandra Kulukundis is the first person ever to win an Oscar for best casting, which is a new category this year.
- Amy Madigan has won best support actress for her performance in Weapons. This is her first Oscar, and you can read all about her performance here.

During his best-actor acceptance speech, Michael B. Jordan thanked director Ryan Coogler for “betting on the culture, betting on original ideas and original artistry,” adding, “I’m so honored to call you a collaborator and friend.” The pair previously worked together on Black Panther, Creed, and Fruitvale Station.
And a long-held Oscars mystery has finally been put to rest: best actor goes to none other than Michael B. Jordan, who played business-minded twins Smoke and Stack in Sinners.
Oh, I didn’t love that callback to the Adrien Brody gum bit. Icky.
At least it wasn’t a callback to his Halle Berry moment!

Paul Thomas Anderson is officially The Master, as he just won his first Oscar for best director, which really is a surprise. This is what I predicted for the Vanity Fair Oscar staff predictions video.
