Nigeria Ranked 8th Most Investable in Africa, Report Reveals
Nigeria is now among Africa’s top 10 most investable economies, after climbing four places to 8th in Bloomberg Economics’ 2026 Investment Risk-O-Meter.
The country overtook Rwanda, Tanzania, Kenya and Namibia, recording one of the biggest jumps among 19 economies assessed, on the back of improvements in economic strength, fiscal strength and external vulnerability.
Mauritius topped the 2026 ranking, while Botswana dropped two places and South Africa, last year’s leader, slipped one place due to weaker growth outlooks, according to Bloomberg.
Bloomberg linked Nigeria’s rise to reforms since 2023, including petrol subsidy removal, FX liberalisation and power sector tariff adjustments, which lifted real GDP growth from 2.54% in Q3 2023 to 3.89% in Q1 2026.
Despite the gains, fiscal pressure persists, with total public debt rising from N87.38 trillion in June 2023 to N159.28 trillion by December 2025, according to the Debt Management Office.
