Nicki Minaj lashed out at Gavin Newsom in a series of X posts in recent days.
The outspoken rapper went after the California governor and possible 2028 Democratic presidential candidate in part for his support of trans kids.
“I want to see trans kids… There’s no governor that’s done more pro-trans legislation than I have. No one has been a stronger advocate for the LGBT community,” Newsom said on The Ezra Klein Show on Wednesday.
Minaj wrote, “Imagine being the guy running on wanting to see trans kids. Haha. Not even a trans ADULT would run on that. Normal adults wake up & think they want to see HEALTHY, SAFE, HAPPY kids. Not Gav. The Gav Nots. GavOUT. Send in the next guy, I’m bored.”
The back-and-forth between Minaj and Newsom comes after Elon Musk’s America PAC posted a video of Newsom’s trans comments and Newsom’s office quote tweeted it, writing “We’re sorry your daughter hates you, Elon,” a reference to the SpaceX CEO’s estranged daughter Vivian.
Musk responded, “I assume you’re referring to my son, Xavier, who has a tragic mental illness caused by the evil woke mind virus you push on vulnerable children. I love Xavier very much and hope he recovers.”
Minaj continued to take aim at Newsom on X, calling him, “the cute boy who got everything handed to him b/c of how cute & sexy & hot & smoking he was”
“Sitting there in that suit with the sneakers on. He thinks he’s Tom Cruise only difference is, his next mission IS impossible,” she wrote.
Newsom is considered to be a likely 2028 Democratic presidential candidate. In additional posts, Minaj suggested that his pursuit of the presidency may already be doomed.
“Oh Gavvy pooh, it only gets worse from here for you, buddy,” she wrote, alongside pictures of Chucky. “It’s the end of the road for you, my love.”
She added, “Get on the nearest jet ski & let that beautiful hair blow in the wind. It will make you happier than this race that you will not win. Enjoy life. Peace.”
She continued to go after Newsom on X on Saturday.
Minaj has aligned herself with Trump administration officials and policies in recent weeks. In November, Minaj posted a screenshot of a Trump Truth Social post in which he said, “Christianity is facing an existential threat in Nigeria.”
She wrote, “Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God. No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other. Numerous countries all around the world are being affected by this horror & it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice.”
She thanked the “President & his team for taking this seriously. God bless every persecuted Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer.”
Minaj even delivered a speech at the UN about the treatment of Christians in Nigeria alongside UN Ambassador Mike Waltz.
She also reposted a White House TikTok set to her song “Va Va Voom” touting the Trump administration’s achievements during the first year of the president’s second term, including “No men in women’s sports.”
This week, Minaj also seemed to express her support for Vice President J.D. Vance over Newsom, retweeting caricatures of the VP and writing “The Vance > The Gav Nots.”
Prior to Trump’s first term, Minaj expressed support for then-president Barack Obama and Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. She also criticized Trump’s immigration policies, specifically the “zero-tolerance” approach that led to migrant children being separated from their families in the president’s first term.
“I came to this country as an illegal immigrant at 5 years old,” Minaj wrote on Instagram in 2018 as Trump was facing backlash for the family separation policy, which he signed an executive order to reverse. “I can’t imagine the horror of being in a strange place and having my parents stripped away from me at the age of 5. This is so scary to me. Please stop this. Can you try to imagine the terror & panic these kids feel right now? Not knowing if their parents are dead or alive, if they’ll ever see them again… ”
