MTN Now 3rd Best Telecom Employer Globally – Forbes
MTN Group has climbed 33 places to 133rd out of 900 companies globally in the Forbes World’s Best Employers 2026 ranking, while retaining its position as the world’s third best telecommunications employer for a second consecutive year.
The telco has now climbed 261 places in three years, rising from 394th in 2023 to 133rd in 2026. This marks its sixth straight appearance on the list.
It is also the fifth-highest-ranked African company and the highest-ranked African company outside financial services on this year’s list.
The Forbes list is drawn from an independent, anonymous survey of more than 300,000 employees in over 50 countries who are asked how likely they are to recommend their employer to family and friends.
The recognition comes as the Group begins delivering its Ambition 2030 strategy, with its people at the centre of the work to lead digital solutions for Africa’s progress.
“Our ambition for Africa is ultimately powered by people. Technology will continue to change what is possible, but it is the ingenuity, resilience and commitment of our people that turn that possibility into progress,” said Ralph Mupita, MTN Group President and CEO.
“Being recognised among the world’s best employers for a sixth consecutive year is something we are proud of, particularly because the list is informed by the voices and experiences of employees,” Mupita said.
The Forbes result echoes MTN’s internal survey. In the 2025 Group Culture Audit, independently assessed by Willis Towers Watson, the score for recommending MTN as a place to work reached +63, up 16 points since 2023, while voluntary turnover fell from 5.7% to 4.0%.
Between 95% and 97% of employees take part in the Group’s surveys, which gives MTN a clear view of how its people experience their work.
“This recognition is a reflection of the energy, passion and resilience our people bring to MTN every day – in how they serve our customers, support one another, shape our culture and help move our business forward,” said Mitwa Ngambi, MTN Group Chief People and Culture Officer.
The Group said the ranking is a sign of progress in bringing its Live Inspired Employee Value Promise and Live Y’ello values to life across a workforce spanning more than 70 nationalities in Connectivity, Fintech and Digital Infrastructure.
