Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are currently in Utah for the Sundance Film Festival, where they’re supporting their new documentary film, Cookie Queens.

The Duchess of Sussex took the opportunity to make a style statement with her coat, which probably doesn’t get a whole lot of use in sunny Montecito. The classic piece feels particularly modern thanks to its wide collar and ankle length.

Its rich navy hue also stands out in a sea of tailored black, brown, and camel-colored tailored coats. The color is almost jewel-like thanks to the luxe wool finish.

Markle’s coat is the 100% wool Fog Coat in the color Deep Sea by Heidi Merrick ($1,275), one of her go-to brands. It’s inspired by classic English tailoring and has a trench coat cut with a belted closure. The Duchess of Sussex wore it almost like a dress, keeping with the monochromatic looks she’s been favoring lately.

We find this blue color striking because it’s not the most common color for coats. It pairs well with classic blue jeans and a white T-shirt for a youthful combo, as well as black trousers and pointed-toe boots, as Markle wore it. The unusual cut of the collar leaves plenty of room for showing off a sleek turtleneck or cozy scarf, if you find yourself in colder climes.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex serve as executive producers on Cookie Queens, directed by Alysa Nahmias, about the history of Girl Scout Cookies. Speaking to press ahead of the premiere, Meghan Markle said, “Yes, it’s probably the cutest film at the festival. But I’m also going to go out on a limb and say it’s one of the most powerful and meaningful depictions of an American tradition.”

The duchess was a Girl Scout growing up in Los Angeles, and her mom, Doria Ragland, served as her troop leader. Will Markle’s own daughter, Lilibet, follow in her mother’s footsteps? If there’s a merit badge for style, she’d be sure to earn it.
