Another Trust Claims Top Prize in Massachusetts

The winners, identified as the Backseat Mayor Nominee Trust of Springfield, managed to scoop the top prize on the “$4,000,000 Extreme Cash” instant ticket game, with an official representative posing for the customary photo op with the oversized check.

The man, Hyman Darling, chose to claim the one-time lump-sum payment on behalf of the trust, resulting in a $2.6-million payment before taxes.

This is not the first time a seven-figure prize was claimed in the Bay State, with another trust, the Love Trust of Quincy, claiming a similarly prized reward from the $4,000,000 In The Money scratch-off game

The odds of winning from the scratch-off game are rather long as well, set at 1 in 5,040,000. The previous reward was won after a ticket was bought from the Quality Gas U Mart in Seekonk.

Both stores selling the winning tickets are now set to receive $40,000 bonuses for having sold winning tickets, calculable as a percentage of the total prize.

In the meantime, more good news has come out of the Bay State, with lottery winners scooping some serious rewards across the board. A woman, Patricia Markland, claimed $500,000 from the “$500,000 Frenzy” instant ticket game on July 6.

The shop that sold the ticket, Val’s Variety at 5 Columbia St in Adams, also received a $5,000 bonus. Another player secured $1 million from the 100X game instant lottery game earlier in July.
