Can you wear lingerie to a party in the wintertime, even if it’s freezing outside? Katie Holmes says yes, and that’s really all the convincing we need.
The actor, who attended a Giving Tuesday event for Aligne in New York City this week, styled a lingerie look with a tailored white wool coat and shiny knee-high boots with a pointed toe. The result was sophisticated, romantic, and best of all, still cozy.

We love wearing silk separates year-round, but there’s something especially right now about Holmes’s lace-trimmed camisole and slip skirt combo. The pumpkin-spice-colored set is by Aligne and includes a thick white lace trim that lends a vintage feel. (Lace also looks so good when layered under a sweater, adding a feminine touch to your winter uniform.)

Holmes’s knee-high patent leather boots keep the ensemble from looking too summery and are a cool juxtaposition to the more dainty silk set. In the warmer months she could just as easily wear the lingerie look with strappy sandals or espadrilles, or even punk-inspired shoes with metal embellishments if she’s looking to keep that cool, romance-meets-city girl contrast.
