Kate Middleton Dons Sentimental Jewels For Scottish Outing

The Princess of Wales opted for a perfectly preppy look for the occasion, debuting a new racing green blazer by Ralph Lauren, which she layered over a striped knitted top and flowing white midi skirt. The look was finished with a favourite pair of pumps and a handbag by Anya Hindmarch.

But it was her jewelry that was particularly meaningful. Middleton wore a twinkling pair of earrings that combine two different brands: gold diamond hoops by Kiki McDonough adorned with a pearl charm by Anoushka. Pearls are a long-standing royal staple and are often seen as a nod to Queen Elizabeth II given her close association with the stone.

Adorning her neck was another meaningful piece from her personal collection: a three-star strand by Daniella Draper. The delicate creation, which could only just be glimpsed beneath her high-neck striped top, is believed to be a way to honor her three children, with one strand representing each.

The Princess owns several designs from Daniella Draper, including a pendant engraved with the initials of her children, and a chain featuring the same initials as drop charms—which she recently wore in September for a visit to Sudbury Silk Mills in Suffolk.

Other pieces in her extensive collection are a necklace hung with a disc, engraved with Prince George’s full name (George Alexander Louis) and a touching necklace from All The Falling Stars, hung with medallions engraved with the letters “G, L, C.”

It’s not just George, Charlotte and Louis to whom the Princess pays tribute, however—Kate’s collection also boasts a necklace which bears a small, heart-shaped charm inscribed with the letter “W,” as a gesture to her husband. As much as Kate Middleton carries off the royal statement pieces she wears for important engagements, she obviously understands the incomparable power of a piece of jewelry where the meaning is just as important as the design.

The Prince and Princess of Wales, known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland, combined their visit to the Commonwealth Games with other engagements.
