By hook or Rook

After a shaky reveal period, Marathon’s marketing has been on point for a while now.
But this latest cinematic trailer, released prior to the game’s impending server slam, is the piece de resistance so far.
It depicts a Rook – a lone Runner, searching for scraps – after a climactic battle. As he tries to prise some loot from one seemingly deceased adversary, the foe springs to life, forcing him to fire off a series of shots and attract the attention of a nearby team.
The trailer does a great job of demonstrating the tension of Bungie’s upcoming extraction shooter, and of course it’s packed with the distinctive imagery that gives the shooter its unique identity.
While none of this is gameplay, we’ve seen enough of the first-person shooter recently to know it’s going to be a good time.
The server slam will get underway this weekend, from 26th February. Will you be checking it out?
