DTF St. Louis star David Harbour is letting loose in a way that fans have never seen him let loose before.

In the latest episode of HBO and HBO Max‘s new mystery dramedy, Clark (Jason Bateman) and Carol (Linda Cardellini) go to a Todrick Hall concert where Floyd (Harbour) is performing as the ASL interpreter.

To get into the exact right headspace (and dancing shoes) for the role, Harbour just had to find some incredible pieces of inspiration, which was easy for him to do.

“We had some choreography with some good choreographers. The main thing was, I looked at some videos of those viral people that are ASL interpreters at these concerts that ,” Harbour explained. “There’s one girl who’s incredible who does ‘Baby Got Back’ and she is at a concert doing it and somebody’s filming it. She’s incredible but she really is just like letting loose and just doing it. And I was like, ‘I want to do that.’ That’s what I want you to feel. And I did my best. I did my best.”

The video Harbour is presumably speaking about is a woman whose hand movements have been viewed 15 million times, receiving some 2.9 million likes on TikTok — and we know at least one of those views comes from the Stranger Things star. In the video, the interpreter gets down and dirty while bringing Sir Mix-a-Lot’s infamous song to life.

“Dang!! That’s a full workout! She’s awesome!” one person wrote.

“I’d go to a concert just to see her, ngl [not going to lie]” another responded.

Clearly, Harbour had his work cut out for him while sitting down and planning to become the next viral ASL interpreter — something he’s almost certain to do as the memes are already making themselves — but it was easier than he anticipated.

“I worked with somebody, we worked on it. And then Todrick Hall comes and does the concert for us,” Harbour told DECIDER. “We did it like twice, just two takes and I guess it was okay, but I could have worked a lot harder. It was super wild fun.”

You would never be able to tell that it was only a two-take situation. Let’s just hope that the next five episodes of DTF St. Louis have more dancing to look forward to.

The first two episodes of DTF St. Louis are now streaming. New episodes premiere at 9 p.m. ET on Sundays.
