A crime

- by Sammy Barker

With a miraculous 10 million units sold across all consoles as of June 2025, the excellent Crash Team Racing: Nitro-Fueled is one of the best-selling kart racers on the planet.
The crime? It’s still locked to 30fps when played using PS5 backwards compatibility, and there’s no sign of a patch or native PS5 upgrade in sight.
Considering the game launched all the way back in 2019, and new-gen consoles have been available for nearing five years now, we suspect there’s very little appetite from publisher Activision to revisit this. But with impressive sales like these, that’s an enormous shame – we’d definitely revisit it at 60fps.
Still, the milestone is worth acknowledging: 10 million units is obviously a lot of copies. Of course, it can’t come close to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which is one of the greatest selling games of all time, but it’s still an impressive achievement on its own.
