One year after Charlie Kirk’s assassination, his widow Erika wrote about walking through grief with faith — the loneliness of it, the days she understands God’s plan and the days she doesn’t, and the hope that putting words to loss might make someone else feel less alone.

For all the things that divide us, grief is a universal language and a defining part of the human experience. At some point, every one of us will love someone we have to say an earthly goodbye to.

Post continues:

… Charlie. Some days I have a vague understanding of God’s plan, others I don’t, but I trust Him completely. He is my only strength. I also know grief can be lonely, and sometimes hearing someone else put words to it makes us feel a little less alone.

I wrote this for anyone who has lost someone they love, anyone sitting in grief now, and anyone who someday will.

Suffering does not get the final word. Only God does.

She then links to her post in The New York Times which actually quite lovely.

Here’s where things really took a turn for the absolute worse:

I don’t think you are a true Christian. I also don’t believe you experienced true grief. You simply were not in Charlie’s life that long. That being said it was a nice sentiment for those who are experiencing grief for someone they truly love
and miss. Maybe you’ll find comfort…

Post continues:

… in your own words some day when you do actually feel the pain of losing someone you loved.

The blue check tells us she’s not a rando so … yeah.

As you likely already guessed, this did not go well:

You deserve horrible things to happen to you.

That’s a whole lot of ugly, Sherry.

I feel sorry for your husband. I mean obviously he needs to shape up, but putting up with you is a whole other full time job. I wonder how much shit he has to clean up in your wake

A very (much-deserved) tough crowd.

You don’t decide that, God does. How incredibly sad that a grown woman would come on here and state this. You need some spiritual help @sherry32373. Your heart is lacking fundamental compassion and this post speaks more about who you are, not Erika. That should be your focus.

You missed a great opportunity to say nothing.

Indeed.

And here’s your real problem…. pic.twitter.com/ugWgon4dsZ
