SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 3 (UPI) — Denver Broncos left tackle Garrett Bolles won the 2026 NFLPA Alan Page Community Award, the players’ union announced Tuesday in San Francisco.

Buffalo Bills left tackle Dion Dawkins, Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and Baltimore Ravens running back Derrick Henry were the other finalists.

“I’d like to thank my teammates and fellow nominees, what we do off the field is becoming just as important as what we do on the field,” Bolles said at award presentation at the Moscone Center.

“I’m honored to stand alongside you. I’d like to thank the NFLPA for this recognition and for the champion community service across the league. Let’s keep inspiring others to live their dream.”

The annual award is given to a union member who goes “above and beyond to perform community service” in his team’s city and/or hometown. The NFLPA also pledged $100,000 to Bolles’ GB3 Foundation, which supports children with learning disabilities through mentorship, football programs and other initiatives in Utah and Colorado.

Bolles and his family used the foundation and I Am King initiative to partner with speech language pathologist Jennie Bjorem to create the Bjorem and Bolles Childhood Apraxia Training Center in Parker, Colo. The center, which educates speech language pathologists, opened in August.

The Bolles family’s motivation for that project came from their son Kingston, who was diagnosed with childhood apraxia, a motor speech disorder that makes it difficult for the brain to coordinate speech.

“I’d like to acknowledge the families, the educators, the therapists and the community leaders working the frontlines every day,” Bolles said. “Their dedication makes real change happen. Without them, I wouldn’t be here today.”

The GB3 Foundation helped host 3,000 children over the last eight years at free football camps. GB3 also raised more than $150,000 for youth and wellness centers in Colorado and Utah.

NFL players choose the recipient of the award through a league-wide digital vote. New York Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton won last year. Calais Campbell, Damar Hamlin, Rodney McLeod and Hayden Hurts are among the other winners.

Bolles, 33, was the No. 20 overall pick by the Broncos in the 2017 NFL Draft. He earned first-team All-Pro and Pro Bowl honors for the first time this season. Bolles made 133 starts through his first nine years in the NFL.

The Broncos signed Bolles to a four-year, $82 million contract extension in 2024.
