One of the biggest attractions of online baccarat is that you can play a live dealer game without having to travel to a casino, and live dealer gaming for baccarat players in Alberta has become even better. BetMGM offers live dealer gaming, allowing players to join games streamed directly from the casino floors of MGM Grand and Bellagio in Las Vegas.
BetMGM announced on August 20 that its Alberta customers now have access to live dealer baccarat, blackjack and roulette broadcast from MGM Resorts properties in Las Vegas. The games are operated through MGM Resorts International’s collaboration with Playtech and include both dedicated online tables and Dual Play games involving players physically present at the casinos.
Baccarat Streamed Directly From MGM Grand and Bellagio
The new offering includes MGM Grand Live Baccarat and Bellagio Live Baccarat, together with MGM Grand Live American Roulette, MGM Grand Live Roulette and Bellagio Live Roulette.
These are Dual Play games, which are slightly different from a conventional live casino studio. Online players join games taking place at the Las Vegas properties alongside players who are actually there in person. BetMGM Alberta also offers dedicated Vegas live dealer tables, including Vegas Baccarat Live, Vegas Roulette Live and several blackjack games.
The Dual Play games are possible thanks to a partnership between MGM Resorts and Playtech that was announced in June 2024. The companies initially said that MGM Live would broadcast baccarat and both single- and double-zero roulette directly from the casino floors at Bellagio and MGM Grand. In many ways, these games are very similar to the live dealer games that online casino players are already very familiar with.
However, there is a very important difference. Normally, when you see a dealer sitting behind an online baccarat table, the game is being broadcast from a purpose-built studio. The surroundings may have been designed to look similar to a land casino, but there is no actual casino floor outside the camera shot.
With the MGM games, the Las Vegas location is real, and Rob Passerino, Director of Gaming at BetMGM, believes this is part of the reason live dealer gaming continues to grow.

Alberta’s New Regulated Online Casino Market
Alberta only opened its expanded regulated iGaming market on July 13, 2026. Private operators can now legally offer online casino and sports betting in the province, provided they are registered with Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) and have a commercial agreement with the Alberta iGaming Corporation.
Before the new system was introduced, PlayAlberta was the province’s regulated online gambling platform, and a substantial number of Albertans also played at offshore sites. In fact, the Alberta government estimated before launch that unregulated operators accounted for around 70% of the province’s iGaming market.
Alberta is unusual in allowing the Dual Play games to be streamed directly from Nevada. According to BetMGM, many regulated jurisdictions require their live dealer games to be broadcast from local studios. In contrast, Alberta players can enjoy games taking place at MGM Resorts properties in Las Vegas.
