Australian police confirm an investigation into Katy Perry’s alleged sexual assault of actress Ruby Rose, following claims over the weekend.
An investigation is being carried out by Australian authorities following actress Ruby Rose’s claims over the weekend that singer Katy Perry sexually assaulted her almost 20 years ago. The incident reportedly occurred at Melbourne CBD’s Spice Market nightclub back in 2010.
“She saw me ‘resting’ on my best friend’s lap to avoid her and bent down, pulled her underwear to the side, and rubbed her disgusting vagina on my face until my eyes snapped open and I projectile vomited on her,” wrote Ruby Rose on Threads.
“It has taken me almost 2 decades to say this publicly. Though I am so grateful to have made it long enough to find my voice, it just shows how much of an impact trauma and sexual assault takes.”
In another update, Rose said she had filed a report with the police.
“As of this afternoon, I have finalized all of my reports. This means I am no longer able to comment, repost, or talk publicly about any of those cases, or the individuals involved,” she wrote. “It’s going to look like I am ignoring everything from supportive messages to other people’s experiences, but I’m not. This is a standard request from the police, and in many ways, quite the relief. I can start the healing process now. And [temporarily] move forward.”
A Victoria Police spokesperson confirmed the report, telling the Daily Mail: “Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating a historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010.”
“Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne’s CBD,” they said. “As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.”
Representatives for Katy Perry insist the claims are “reckless” and “false,” and that Ruby Rose has a “history” of making false allegations.
“The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies,” a rep told The Tab. “Ms. Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named.”
Ruby Rose’s allegations against Katy Perry come after the singer remarked on Justin Bieber’s unusual YouTube-browsing Coachella set.
“Thank God he has Premium,” said Perry, who was spotted at Coachella over the weekend with her boyfriend, former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. “I don’t wanna see no ads.”
