The latest escalation has raised concerns over the fragile ceasefire between Iran, the US and Israel, as global markets monitor disruptions to oil shipments and rising tensions in the strategic waterway.

Iran-US-Israel War Live Updates | Fresh tensions flared in the Strait of Hormuz after US forces disabled two Iranian oil tankers on Friday following overnight exchanges in the Gulf, while the United Arab Emirates reported another Iranian missile-and-drone attack that injured three people.
The latest escalation has raised fresh doubts over the fragile month-old ceasefire that Washington says technically remains in effect. The US is awaiting Iran’s response to a proposal aimed at ending hostilities, reopening the Strait of Hormuz and placing curbs on Tehran’s nuclear programme. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said he hoped to receive “a serious offer” from Iran later on Friday.
The US military said the two tankers were attempting to breach an American blockade on Iranian ports. Earlier, Washington said Iranian attacks targeting three US Navy ships in the Strait of Hormuz had been thwarted, following which American forces struck Iranian military facilities. No US naval vessel was hit in the exchanges.
Iran, however, accused Washington of violating the ceasefire and escalating the conflict. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the US was repeatedly undermining diplomatic efforts whenever negotiations appeared possible.
