Shiny, shiny cinematics

Fable is certainly one of Xbox’s biggest releases of the year, and a new comment from Matt Booty gives us a little bit more insight into its development, and how an unlikely Microsoft team is helping bring the upcoming RPG to life.

In a new chat on the Official Xbox Podcast, the exec touches on how some of the teams are working together across games; revealing that Blizzard Entertainment is helping with cinematics work on the Fable reboot.

Here’s exactly what Booty says on that:

“We’ve really seen a lot — once we build those connections — of teams starting to share things with each other. […] the Blizzard cinematics team is helping out on Fable [for example],”

With the step up from Forza Horizon to Fable, this sort of assist makes a lot of sense for Playground Games to welcome with open arms, and we’re very curious to see how the final game turns out. Blizzard certainly knows their way around a high quality cinematic or two, that’s for sure!

We’re also hoping that this can help the Forza dev wrap things up with Fable this year. We heard recent rumours of an internal delay, but the team was quick to take to social media to remind fans that an Autumn 2026 release is still on the cards. We’ll have to see how all of that shakes out later in the year.

What do you think of Blizzard teaming up with Playground on Fable, then? Talk to us about it down below.
