‘Were you there?!’ Andrew Pierce in EXPLOSIVE row with adviser who claims Chris Kaba ‘wasn’t a threat’ – ‘Read the transcript!’

A heated exchange erupted on GB News between Ken Hinds, co-chair of the Haringey Independent Stop and Search Group, and Andrew Pierce over the Chris Kaba case.

The row centred on the recent acquittal of Metropolitan Police officer Sergeant Martyn Blake, who fatally shot Kaba in September 2022.

Pierce was left furious when Hinds claimed that Chris Kaba “was not a threat” to the officers who shot him.

Sergeant Martyn Blake was cleared of the murder charges at the Old Bailey on Monday after a three-week trial.

Ken Hinds said: “A young man has lost his life all of a sudden. What wasn’t relevant in his court case has now become relevant for us in the news.

“We’ve got to remember that the police didn’t know who was in that car. What I’m concerned about is the lack of accountability.

“Yes, people are saying that the officers need more safeguarding, but they also need more scrutiny because they are allowed to use lethal force.

“In this case, he got it very wrong. The person was not causing a threat.”

Andrew said: “No, no. Hang on. That’s not right. He was in a two-ton car, which he was using as a battering ram. Those police officers felt they were in dire danger of serious injury or even death.”

Hinds fired back: “That’s not true. That’s not true.”

Andrew fumed: “Were you there?”

As he was continuously interrupted, Andrew said: “You were not in the court case. All right, this was for three weeks.” He added: “Read the transcript.”

It emerged that Kaba had shot a rival in the legs at a nightclub just six days before his fatal encounter with police. Had he survived, he would have faced trial for attempted murder.

The Audi Q8 that Kaba was driving had been linked to previous firearms incidents, though Blake was unaware of Kaba’s identity at the time of the shooting.

Despite being cleared of murder charges, Sergeant Martyn Blake could still face disciplinary action.

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is reviewing whether to pursue gross misconduct proceedings against Blake.

Scotland Yard has expressed hope that Blake might eventually return to his role in the force, which he once described as “the best job”.
