July 29 (UPI) — Sony Pictures is teasing the new film Jumanji: Open World.
The studio shared a trailer for the movie Tuesday featuring Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan.
Jumanji: Open World is the third Jumanji reboot film and sequel to the 1995 movie starring late actor Robin Williams. The new entry follows Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017) and Jumanji: The Next Level (2019).
The reboot sequels follow a group of teenagers who come across a video game based on the Jumanji board game. The group is transported into the game, where they are transformed into the game’s avatars, played by Johnson, Hart, Black and Gillan.
In Open World, it is the avatars who are transported to the real world, where they find themselves stuck in “demo mode.”
“Our heroes have escaped the perilous jungles of Jumanji before, but this time Jumanji breaks free of its console, unleashing its chaos into our world,” an official description reads.
Nick Jonas and Danny DeVito also star.
Jumanji: Open World opens in theaters Dec. 25 on Christmas Day.
