Following Saturday’s postponement, the Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves suited up for the first of a two-game back-to-back starting on Sunday afternoon.
Through the first half, the Warriors and Timberwolves traded buckets. Led by Steph Curry, Moses Moody and De’Anthony Melton, the Warriors took a one-point into halftime against Anthony Edwards, Donte DiVincenzo and the Timberwolves.
Coming out of the halftime locker room, the Warriors made their move. The Warriors ran away with the game in the third quarter, outscoring the Timberwolves 38-17 in the opening 12 minutes of the second half. Brandin Podziemski tallied eight points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field as Gui Santos added seven points on 3-of-4 shooting.
While the Warriors caught fire in the third, the Timberwolves went cold. The Timberwolves shot 6-of-19 from the field and 1-of-7 from deep in the third quarter. Only four members of the Timberwolves registered a bucket in the third quarter, while the Warriors had eight players score in the third.
Following their dominant third quarter, the Warriors cruised to a 111-85 win on Sunday, handing the Timberwolves their fifth straight loss. The Warriors held the Timberwolves to only 85 points, their first time under 100 points this season and their lowest scoring total since 2021.
Curry finished with a game-high 26 points on 7-of-18 shooting from the field with seven assists and four steals in 28 minutes. Moody added 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting with five made 3-pointers to go along with a game-high 8 boards. Al Horford reached double-figures in his second start of the season with 10 points, five boards, two assists and a block in 23 minutes. Podziemski, Melton and rookie Will Richard all notched double-figure scoring numbers on Sunday.
The Timberwolves held a pregame moment of silence for Alex Pretti. Pretti was fatally shot in Minneapolis by federal agents on Saturday. The NBA postponed Saturday’s contest between the Warriors and Timberwolves following the shooting.
The Warriors will stay in Minneapolis for the second leg of their back-to-back against the Timberwolves on Monday night.
