It’s choo-choo true

Train Sim World 6 Gears Up for PS5, PS4 Release Later This Year 1

Train Sim World has, for better or for worse, become an annualised franchise. So it probably won’t come as a huge surprise to learn that Train Sim World 6 is gearing up for a 2025 release on PS5 and PS4.

While details are still largely being kept under wraps, Dovetail has confirmed it’ll be hosting a livestream on 26th August with all the details.

You can hear from executive producer Matt Peddlesden in the video embedded below:

So far the team has confirmed that it will be bringing back the free Starter Pack which it introduced with Train Sim World 5, which will give you a free way to import all of your existing content into the new release.

It’s also revealed that the new version will feature further “key optimisation improvements” to the gameplay experience, so you can probably expect various performance and quality of life upgrades compared to existing editions.

As for new features, routes, and locos, though, all of that is under wraps until 26th August.

To be honest, we’re not overly keen on the rate at which these releases are coming out. For example, the hotly anticipated Japanese route Tadami Line was originally announced for Train Sim World 4, and will now presumably launch as part of Train Sim World 6, which is wild.

But with the free Starter Packs, it’s fairly easy to move your content forward, so we’ve got to give props to the team for that.

By the way, it also mentions that Dovetail Games will be making additional game announcements during its aforementioned livestream, so it’ll be interesting to see what else it’s got in store.
