Three teenagers die after car smashes into tree in horror crash near Wakefield
Three teenagers have died after a car smashed into a tree in a horrific crash near Wakefield.
Emergency services swooped upon the scene where three men – two 19-year-old passengers and one 18-year-old driver – died.
The trio were travelling along Bramley Lane near West Bretton in the direction of Wooley on Friday evening when the black Seat Ibiza crashed into a tree at around 8.30pm.
Two other passengers were taken to hospital, where one has sustained life-threatening injuries, West Yorkshire Police has said.
The fifth passenger has injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening.
West Yorkshire Police senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector James Entwistle said: “This is a tragic incident which has resulted in the loss of three lives and fourth person suffering critical injuries.
“Our thoughts go out to the families of those involved who we are working with to provide support.”
Entwistle added that their specialist collision investigators are working to establish the circumstances regarding the fatal collision.

Additionally, he urged any witnesses who might have seen the car involved or might have access to dashcam or video footage to support their investigation to get in touch.

Meanwhile, in South Yorkshire, a 48-year-old man has died in a separate incident the day before, after his car left the road and crashed into trees.
The black Mercedes C200 swerved off the road at around 7.20pm in Anston, Rotherham.
Once emergency services attended the scene at the junction of Worksop Road and Ryton Road, he was pronounced dead at the scene, South Yorkshire Police said.
His family have since been informed with extra support from specialist officers, while the force requested that any witnesses or those with footage of the crash come forward.
