‘There’s none on the shelves!’ Cadbury fans dealt blow as festive treat pulled from supermarkets ahead of Christmas
Cadbury has withdrawn one of its most popular hot chocolate products from supermarket shelves across the UK, dealing a blow to shoppers.
The popular winter treat has largely disappeared from retailers after manufacturers Mondelez International identified issues with the product’s appearance.
The firm confirmed why the product was unavailable after frustrated customers took to social media to report their struggles to find the product.
A spokesperson from Mondelēz International shared a statement to clarify the situation.
It said: “Ensuring our consumers enjoy consistently high-quality Cadbury products is of paramount importance to us.
“We have identified a food quality issue in Cadbury Drinking Chocolate product meaning in some instances the texture and colour of the product may not look as expected.
“As a result, we have swiftly withdrawn affected products from retailers, to make specific improvements to future production.
“This unfortunately means Cadbury Drinking Chocolate products will be unavailable for a short period.”
The spokesperson assured customers that the product will return to shops as soon as possible.
“We are working hard to get Cadbury Drinking Chocolate back in shops again quickly, and we envisage this will be around mid-December.”
One user shared on X: “Is there an issue with your hot chocolate supplies? (Swirl into Milk version) searched high and low in all local supermarkets and there’s none on the shelves!”
One Muswell Hill resident reported on Facebook that the product had been unavailable at her local Tesco for “a few weeks”.
