Cruis’n for a bruis’n

The Outrageously Over-the-Top Fast & Furious Arcade Game Is Coming to PS5 1

Have you played Cruis’n Blast on the Switch? We don’t get to write about it often because Nintendo owns the franchise, but it’s awesome. Oh my god, it’s so good.

It’s made by Raw Thrills, who’ve worked on various Fast & Furious arcade games, including one which released in 2022. That game’s a lot like Cruis’n Blast, with just absolutely ridiculous courses filled with action all over the place.

And that version’s now coming to PS5, courtesy of GameMill Entertainment.

Now, we know what you’re thinking: the UI looks like a bad mobile game and the graphics look pretty darn cheap. That all may be true, but you just need to embrace the utter chaos with racers like this – it really calls back to better days, when the likes of Ridge Racer ruled the world.

The game’s due out on 24th October, and here’s what the press release says:

“Race through each of the original arcade game’s tracks solo or in split-screen with a friend and discover destructible environments, branching paths, and sneaky shortcuts that can shake up any race and reward risk-takers. Take on thrilling challenges with high-stakes objectives like intercepting a missile in the Swiss Alps or grounding a plane in the heart of Hong Kong.”

Much like Cruis’n Blast, we’d expect this to be a pretty light package overall. The summary mentions car customisation, local multiplayer, and hidden shortcuts, so this probably isn’t going to keep you occupied for too long.

But the licensed cars are in – including the Dodge Charger, Ford GT, and Shelby GT500 KR – and as long as it runs at a rock solid 60fps, we’re down. We’ll be picking this one up. You?
