The farmers’ protest was encouraging, but it’s time Britain did it the French way – Lady Judith McAlpine
One would have expected God to be on the side of the farmers! Could we not have had a sunny day to protest at Ms Reeves’ unprecedented attack on those of us who feed the nation?
Or is it snowing to make the point that farmers must put up with whatever God throws at us, whatever day of the year? Okay – she doesn’t control the weather, but how did she come to be controlling our money? It seems I was right a few weeks back to query her competence. To say she has been economical with the truth is clearly an overstatement.
So, we have someone completely unqualified in every way bringing in a law that will see our farms broken up, farmers simply unable to farm and feed their own families – let alone the rest of us.
Today we are asked not to “disrupt”, not to “block traffic with large vehicles” i.e. don’t bring your tractor – how will we obey? Usually yes will – we are so obedient.
As a famous friend of mine pointed out last night: “The Frogs would have stormed Paris, blocked every road with massive tractors, and any suggestion of them having to register in order to take part in the demonstration would have been met with loud laughter.”
We Britons calmly submit and register. No wonder we have let in a government that is making up the rules as it goes and has no idea how to run anything, clearly has no idea where the strengths of our people lie, no idea where its food comes from – or maybe they collectively eat only imported food? So, they will notice no change when food production in Britain grinds to its inevitable halt and we are all eating Baguettes and bratwurst for breakfast.
Yes, I agree, this is a rant. We do not, as a nation, rant enough. We are law-abiding but we grumble in the pub or around the table. We pay our taxes on time and keep the less privileged fed as best we can by donating money, food, and whatever is needed.
How on earth did we get a government that won fewer votes than the opposition but is now destroying our country?
While I realise that no one today is going to be thinking about proportional representation. they should be. While I agree that the Conservative Party is no longer viable, having destroyed itself from within, there MUST be a way of finding intelligent, educated people to run Great Britain Ltd. as Maggie managed it… as any good businessman (or woman) might. So – off we head, in the snow – which is better than rain – to make our feelings felt. Why do I feel it is all somewhat hopeless?
If we can acquire a Chancellor who knows nothing of running a business or how to draw up a balance sheet, how on earth can our pleadings prevail? Our common sense will fall on deaf ears because, perhaps, there is simply too little between those collective ears to process the message we are trying to relay.
