It’s been nearly two months since PinkPantheress released the music video for the Zara Larsson-featured remix of her song “Stateside.” While the pop stars joining forces received plenty of online attention and streams, the song’s been getting a bit of an unexpected bump as of late.

U.S. figure skater Alysa Liu, who just took home the gold medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics, has been on a viral spree of her own, with the Bay Area native’s Exhibition Gala performance of the “Stateside” remix in particular getting attention online.

Liu, 20, gave PinkPantheress and Larsson a shoutout in her routine during the non-medal portion of the games that allows the skaters to have a bit more fun by doing some of the choreography for the song. The obsession with Liu’s performance has managed to make a tangible difference for the pop song, which has been climbing the charts and seeing its streams increasing. Larsson, currently touring the U.S. in support of her glittery Midnight Sun album, performed the song at her Los Angeles tour stop earlier this week — the crowd went wild.

“Stateside” jumped to No. 13 from No. 41 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100; it’s the song’s highest charting position to date. It has made it to No. 1 on Spotify’s top U.S. and global songs chart; it remains at No. 1 on the global daily chart and currently sits at No. 2 on the daily chart and No. 4 on the weekly chart in the U.S. The U.S. No. 1 position marked Larsson’s first on the Spotify chart.

Streams on the song have increased significantly in the U.S., according to Luminate Data. The song received approximately 1.1 million on-demand streams in the U.S. on Feb. 21, the day of the Olympic Figure Skating Exhibition Gala. It received approximately 2.8 million on-demand streams on Feb. 28 in the U.S., only one week later.

Spotify says the song’s highest streaming day on the platform was Feb. 28 globally. “Stateside” is still going strong though. It’s been tracking at more than 5 million streams a day globally on Spotify since Feb. 26, according to the platform.

In the week following the figure skating routine, TikTok saw a more than 50 percent increase in video views on the song compared to the week prior.

PinkPantheress took to Instagram to share her excitement over the recent boost. “What the flip is going on y’all???? Stateside is number 1 on the U.S. Spotify chart,” wrote in part as her caption for a photo posted last week.

“Girl ‘Stateside’ was at the mf Olympics! Dreams rlly do come true,” she continued. The British singer also took a moment to shoutout her collaborators and Liu herself. The figure skater commented on the post calling PinkPatheress a boss.

Larsson also posted a photo of her and PinkPantheress to celebrate. “You’re listening to the #1 song in the world right now,” she said. “PinkPantheress, thank you for having me on your already perfect song.”
