Gujarat Titans skipper Shubman Gill was ruled out of their IPL 2026 clash against Rajasthan Royals in Ahmedabad on Saturday due to a muscle spasm. Stand-in captain Rashid Khan confirmed the development at the toss, expressing hope that the 26-year-old will return soon.
“We wanted to bowl first. Gill has a muscle spasm, hopefully, he will be back soon,” Rashid said.
In Gill’s absence, Jharkhand wicketkeeper-batter Kumar Kushagra was handed his IPL debut. Rashid added that the team is eager to see the youngster perform on the big stage.
“KK (Kumar Kushagra) is playing his first game and we look forward to seeing him play. We played good cricket in the last game as well. It was a good game, and we need to bring out 100% here,” he said.
