Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights:

Benchmark indices ended higher for the third straight session, though off intraday highs, with the Sensex rising 633 points to close at 76,704 and the Nifty gaining 197 points to settle above 23,750 at 23,778.

Market breadth remained firmly positive, with advances outpacing declines by a wide margin, as the NSE advance-decline ratio stood at 4:1.

The Nifty Bank index climbed 450 points to end at 55,326, while the Midcap index outperformed, surging 1,145 points to close at 56,290.

Among heavyweights, Infosys, M&M, and Reliance Industries were the top contributors to the Nifty’s gains.

Sectorally, IT stocks led the rally, with Coforge, Tech Mahindra, and Persistent Systems emerging as top gainers on the index. In contrast, metals underperformed in an otherwise strong market, with Vedanta declining 3%.

In the broader market, KPIT Technologies, Coforge, Paytm, Delhivery, and Oracle Financial Services Software featured among the top midcap gainers.

On the downside, Swan Defence hit its 5% lower circuit after its OFS opened for non-retail investors, while MCX dropped 3% following the NSE’s introduction of 10-gram gold futures contracts.

Urban Company shares jumped 9% after SBI Mutual Fund increased its stake via a ₹600 crore purchase, while Mankind Pharma gained 3% on acquiring the Rivotril brand from Roche for the Indian market.

Electric mobility stocks, led by JBM Auto, rallied sharply, rising up to 20% on strong volumes.

Meanwhile, the Indian rupee weakened past the 92.50 mark against the US dollar for the first time, hitting a record low of 92.63 during the session.
