Screen Queensland announced the appointment of Julie Eckersley as Executive Director, Screen Content, joining the agencys executive leadership team.

Julie brings more than 20 years of creative industry experience spanning performance, production and development across television, film and digital media. Her career includes executive roles with SBS and Matchbox Pictures as well as her background in producing, acting, and thought leadership on the future of media. During her time at SBS she was recognised as Commissioner of the Year and commissioned shows such asFour Years Later,Safe Home,While the Men Were Away,Erotic StoriesandSwift Street.
As Executive Director, Screen Content, Julie will help shape Screen Queenslands creative direction and reinforce the states position as a leading destination for screen production across film, television, online content and digital games. She will champion Queenslands screen industry by supporting local storytellers, developing homegrown projects and attracting productions, while delivering opportunities for both emerging and established practitioners across national and global markets.

Julies appointment follows the conclusion of Dr Belinda Burns tenure as Chief Creative Officer.

Julie Eckersley will commence her role at Screen Queensland on 3 November 2025, with the executive search supported by EP Australia.
