Singer-songwriter Re Mattei unveils her new single, “It’s A Love Thing,” an emotionally moving song that depicts romance in all its primeval glory – the kind of love that pierces to the center of your heart.
Mattei explains, “I wrote ‘It’s A Love Thing’ because real love isn’t about appearances or what’s sitting in the driveway. It’s not about horsepower or polish—it’s about feeling your heart race when you look in their eyes for the first time, and you know they’re the one.”
Written by Re Mattei and Courtney Bach, “It’s A Love Thing” provides an appetizer for Mattei’s upcoming album, slated to drop later this year.
A graduate of Berklee College of Music, Mattei, a native of New Jersey, began her career after being invited to audition for The Uptown Girls. She got the gig and suddenly found herself touring the world.
Later, she moved to Nashville to pursue her songwriting and recording. Since making the move to Music City, she has performed at The Bluebird Café, Opryland Hotel, and WSM-AM’s stage at the Tennessee State Fair. In 2025, she was nominated in five categories at the International Singer Songwriter Awards.
In 2024, Mattei released her album, Believin’ Is Seein’, co-produced with Bart Pursley (Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson, Blake Shelton).
“It’s A Love Thing,” co-produced by Grammy-winner Antaeus and Re Mattei, features the talents of John Conley (electric guitar), Re Mattei (acoustic guitar), Tim Denbo (bass), Dave Racine (drums), and Mike Rojas (keyboards). The song was engineered by Bart Pursley, while being mixed and mastered by Antaeus, Alex Psaroudakis, and Joe Maldonado
“It’s A Love Thing Opens” on a low-slung, strumming acoustic guitar, followed by the entry of Mattei’s smoke-filled, edgy voice, highlighted by hints of a delicious drawl. It’s one of those strong female voices that’s been dipped in restless flavors – potent and compelling. A wonderful, braying organ imbues the melody with luminous, oozing tones, adding to the viscous flow of the harmonics. And the guitar solo is under perfect control, yet sizzles with scorching licks.
Immersed in blues and country savors, with “It’s A Love Thing,” Re Mattei delivers an unmissable account of genuine love.
