Prince Harry’s US visa in limbo after ‘very unwise move’ from duke: ‘This could be explosive!’

A royal expert has warned that the potential release of Prince Harry’s sealed US visa documents could have “explosive” consequences for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

Speaking to GB News, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams said the case had “the feeling of being possibly somewhat dramatic”, particularly with Donald Trump now in the White House.

His comments come as Judge Carl Nichols left open the possibility of releasing some of Prince Harry’s sealed US visa documents in a hearing in Washington DC.

The judge, who has reviewed secret records of Harry’s visa status, said he wanted “maximum disclosure as long as it doesn’t violate privacy”.

Speaking to GB News, Fitzwilliams said: “There’s no doubt at all that this has the feeling of being somewhat dramatic.

“I mean, we don’t know exactly where this is going to go or what the Department of Homeland Security will make public, it may be very redacted.

“Donald Trump is in the White House. That could be a very new factor in this. He told Nigel Farage on GB News that if Harry had lied, this would mean appropriate action might be taken or would be taken.

“So it very definitely could be somewhat explosive for the Sussexes.”

GB News host Ben Leo asked: “Is President Trump going to send Harry packing back to the UK?”

“Well, this is something that we simply don’t know at the moment. Trump said if it was up to him, he wouldn’t protect him. He disrespected the Queen. That’s unforgivable. He’d be on his own if he was up to Trump.

“Well, it now is up to him now. We’ll have to see, because I don’t think this is something that the Royal Family want. Harry is still the fifth in line to the throne and he’d appeal in the courts.

“He’s had victories in the courts here against what he’s claimed as press intrusion. Well, now we may see something very different emerge.”

He added: “Harry was very, very unwise to talk about it as openly as he has, including an interview, for example, with Doctor Gabor Martin, who was a controversial figure, and he went into it in some detail.

“It should, in fairness, be mentioned, of course, that taking drugs was Harry’s way of dulling the pain after the tragic death of the Princess of Wales, but he shouldn’t have talked about it and written about it as he has.”

The Department of Homeland Security maintains that immigration information is “private personal information”, similar to health and financial records.

The department dismissed the Heritage Foundation’s allegations of government wrongdoing as “purely speculative”.

In September, Judge Nichols had initially ruled that the public did not have a strong interest in disclosure of the duke’s immigration records.

The case continues as the Heritage Foundation challenges this earlier ruling, claiming the judge “relied too much on secret evidence” in keeping the records private.
