NWDC Open to Partnership for Grassroots Development — MD
The North-West Development Commission (NWDC) has reiterated its commitment to partnerships that promote peace, unity and sustainable development across the region.
The Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Prof. Shehu Abdullahi Ma’aji, stated this when he received a delegation of the Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) Unity Forum to the Kano State Government at the Commission’s headquarters in Kano.
Ma’aji said the Commission remains focused on its core mandate of catalysing sustainable development in the North-West through infrastructure, human capital development and community empowerment initiatives, in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He commended the Forum for its zeal for grassroots engagement and assured them of the Commission’s openness to collaborations that advance development in the zone.
Earlier, the Chairman of the Forum, Danladi Mai-bulala, who led the delegation, said the visit was to appreciate the leadership of the NWDC and to intimate the Commission of its ongoing grassroots sensitisation and civic engagement activities across the seven states of the North-West.
Mai-bulala said the Forum has adopted the principle of “Gani Ya Kori Ji” (Seeing is Believing), using video and pictorial evidence to showcase developmental projects at the grassroots.
He explained that beyond their official duties, members of the Forum have embarked on voluntary media engagements, town hall meetings and community dialogues to promote government policies and foster public understanding of development programmes, particularly in rural communities.
According to him, the Forum is committed to promoting unity and supporting initiatives that enhance rural development, which aligns with the mandate of the NWDC.
The delegation presented advocacy materials and a formal letter outlining areas of proposed collaboration to the Managing Director.
