Muhammad Ali’s daughter says he ‘would have been mortified’ after Jake Paul beat Mike Tyson

Muhammad Ali’s daughter believes the boxing icon would have been ‘mortified’ if he’d been alive to witness Jake Paul’s recent win over Mike Tyson.

Paul won via unanimous decision, with the 27-year-old dominating proceedings against a man 31 years his senior.

Fans from all over the world tuned in hoping to see Tyson roll back the years at the AT&T Stadium.

However, the 58-year-old looked his age as he crashed to the seventh professional defeat of his glittering career.

When it comes to the greatest heavyweight boxers of all time, Ali arguably sits at the summit.

He was a big fan of Tyson and his daughter, Rasheda Ali Walsh, believes her father would have hated to watch the contest – and the outcome.

“Boxers didn’t make money, like you know, Tyson’s making. And daddy would have been excited he made that kind of money,” she told Fox News.

Rasheda then added: “Daddy would have been mortified.

“Because back then, boxers didn’t really make that much.

“They were fighting for their lives, and I think as my dad started to make boxing more entertaining, that’s when people came on board and how boxers started to, after my dad, make a lot of money.”

Tyson insisted before the fight that money wasn’t his main incentive for returning to the ring, 19 years on from his last pro defeat.

The veteran instead said it was because he enjoyed the ‘risk’ involved, especially given his age.

Yet Tyson has since insisted that he’s got no regrets about fighting Paul, despite being unable to come out on top.

When it comes to the future, it’s unclear what will happen next.

Tyson, immediately after his defeat, signalled he’d be interested in a showdown with Paul’s brother, Logan.

However, that doesn’t seem likely to happen with Iron Mike since describing his bout over the weekend as his ‘last’.

As for Paul, the 27-year-old refused to namedrop any other boxers – but did express a belief that something big may happen in the future.

“There may never be another moment like this in boxing, but I believe we can find something,” he stated.

“And I think there are a few names out there that make sense, that the events will be just as big.”

Paul’s promoter, Nakisa Bidarian, added: “Boxing is ebbs and flows, ups and downs, big events, small events, medium-sized events.

“Our philosophy is it’s not about what is the decision that happens in the ring.

“It’s about the attitude that you have and the product you create and how you entertain the fans.

“And there’s no more entertaining of an athlete than Jake Paul.”
