Mike Tyson ‘will ignore the script’ against Jake Paul as veteran prepares for blockbuster boxing comeback

Mike Tyson will ‘ignore the script’ in his upcoming fight with Jake Paul.

That’s according to Bermane Stiverne, with the former world champion expressing a belief that Iron Mike will do things his way when he returns to the ring on Friday night.

Tyson’s clash with Paul has been shrouded in controversy ever since it was first announced back in March.

Many figures associated with the sport have voiced concerns about the age gap between the two men and that the showdown may actually be scripted as a result.

There is nothing to back that up, with both Tyson and Paul adamant that the fight won’t be staged.

Yet Stiverne thinks that, even if there is a script, Tyson won’t play by the rules due to his huge desire to win.

“It’s funny because I saw a video of Roy Jones, and he was making he was describing when he was fighting Tyson, and he said Tyson is a is like a pit bull,” he told Baccarat.

“He doesn’t know how to play. Tyson has one, has one speed and every punch he throws is always with bad intention.

“Even if there was a script, you could try to script it precisely, but I just don’t think he can stick to the script, he will rip it up because of the bad intentions he has when he enters the ring.

“If there is a script, forget it because Mike Tyson does not follow scripts, he follows knockouts and wants to hurt people inside there.

“I also heard Jake Paul was complaining about changing gloves for the fight. That’s the difference of a real fighter and someone pretending to be a boxer.

“If Jake Paul is hoping for an easy fight, then he has taken the wrong challenge.”

Stiverne was also asked for his verdict on the bout.

He admits that he’s never really been a huge fan of Paul and says the 27-year-old has ‘bought his career’, rather than earning it on merit.

The former heavyweight star added: “I never really saw Jake Paul as a contender but it’s also a different generation.

“In my generation, a fighter would have a certain amount of fights in the amateurs, go to the Olympic Games and then turn professional.

“But that was my era and not every fighter has the chance to go to the Olympics or win a significant tournament as an amateur and then turn professional. We all have different route.

“I have only started hearing about Jake Paul during the last few years.

“He has bought his career and has made a career off YouTube. He brings in a lot of views and generates lots of revenue for everyone involved so that is impressive but when it comes to Jake Paul being a fighter, I can’t say he has impressed me or that I know much of his qualities. He has bought his career.

“I watched his fight against Tommy Fury [in 2023], and he lost against a real boxer and it was the first time he had fought a pro rather than an MMA fighter or a basketball player.

“He isn’t able to beat a real fighter, that’s the thing.”

Tyson has won 50 pro fights throughout his career, while Paul has 10 victories from 11 bouts to his name.
