Jeremy Clarkson’s tear-jerking eight-word Grand Tour farewell revealed as finale release date confirmed in new trailer

Jeremy Clarkson had some rather poignant words for The Grand Tour fans in the trailer for the show’s final-ever special.

For the final time, the trio of Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond will join forces in the last episode of the Amazon motoring show, titled One for the Road.

The trio filmed the special last year shortly after they’d visited Mauritania for their penultimate instalment, Sand Job.

But it’s been a long wait to see what the long-time pals get up to behind the wheel after they headed to Zimbabwe to film One for the Road.

The special marks the end of a 22-year collaboration between the motoring enthusiasts who’ve been entertaining viewers ever since their Top Gear days.

And the trailer promises One for the Road is going to be an emotional affair for diehard Grand Tour and Top Gear fans as it opens with the three men driving their cars through the Zimbabwean wilderness.

Rather than being able to hear what the trio gets up to as clips from the special play, The Hollies classic He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother plays over the top.

In the trailer, fans get to see the three men share a laugh after an inevitable mishap, Clarkson struggle with a map, Hammond and May try to fix a broken down vehicle, and – of course – high-speed drives with picturesque views.

Little is said in the promo as the music takes centre stage but the clip from Amazon does treat fans to some rather tear-jerking words from Clarkson.

As he begins driving, Clarkson turns to the camera and says to The Grand Tour fans: “So, for the last time… here we go.”

Fans will get to see what Clarkson, May and Hammond get up to when One for the Road drops on Amazon Prime Video on September 13.

shortly after the trailer’s release, fans rushed to the show’s official Instagram account to share their reactions to the finale promo – and it’s safe to say dry eyes were a rarity.

“I’m actually gonna cry throughout this episode,” one fan penned in response.

While a second similarly commented: “I am going to cry when watching this… A part of my childhood is ending.”

“We knew this was coming but it doesn’t hurt any bit less…” a third weighed in before a fourth said: “And so, The 3 Wise Men have reached the end of their journey. Thanks for everything chaps.”

Elsewhere, a fifth surmised: “We are so gonna miss you beautiful people. Thanks for all the laughs and for being the backbone of the car enthusiast community for longer than we deserved.” (sic)

Amazon hasn’t given away too many details of what fans can expect but did release a short synopsis to get excitement levels rising.

It said: “In their last adventure, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May ignore the instructions of Mr Wilman and head to Zimbabwe in three cars they’ve always wanted to own…
