President Donald Trump described US operations against Iran as a “short-term excursion,” telling Republican House members that the campaign has quickly neutralised the country’s military threats. He said, “We took a little excursion because we felt we had to do that to get rid of some people. It is going to be a short term excursion.”
He added that the operation has already destroyed Iran’s Navy, sunk 46 ships, and dismantled its drone, missile, and nuclear capabilities.
Trump highlighted that leaders in Iran have been removed and that new leadership remains unknown. He described “Operation Epic Fury” as “one of the most complex and stunning operations ever conducted” and said it is coordinated with Israeli partners to ensure that the enemy “will not relent until totally and decisively defeated.”
The president also cited the elimination of Qasem Soleimani, describing him as capable and vicious and responsible for roadside bombs that harmed many, saying his removal prevented Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons within weeks. Trump framed these actions as historic achievements, emphasising the technical skill and strength of the US military.

He repeatedly stressed that, while the operation is a “short-term excursion,” it has already achieved significant results, dismantling Iran’s ability to wage war and weakening its leadership structure.
Trump credited Congress for supporting a record $1 trillion investment in the military, which enabled these rapid and effective operations.
Trump recounted his visit Saturday to Dover, Delaware, for the dignified transfer of soldiers killed in the ongoing war with Iran. He claimed the families of the fallen all told him one thing, “Make sure you win, sir. Make sure you win.”
